Summer might be on its last legs, but with outside temperatures nearing 90 degrees, we’re still looking for creative ways to stay cool. Whether you don’t have an air conditioner or you’re simply trying to cut back on energy costs, there are several things you can do to cool down.
1. Rinse with cold water
Nobody likes a frigid shower, but it just might be the key to cooling off on a hot day. If you simply must take a hot shower, then try rinsing your hair with cold water afterwards. It’ll leave you feeling refreshed!
2. Upgrade your light bulbs
Most homeowners use incandescent bulbs, which are known to waste approximately 90 percent of their energy in the warmth they give off. Switching to compact fluorescent lamps, aka CFLs, can make a big difference in the amount of heat produced as well as your energy costs.
3. Stay hydrated
The obvious answer here is drink more water. But what you might not realize is that avoiding certain drinks can help you stay comfortably hydrated, too. Try not to sip on alcohol and caffeine on warm days, as these substances are known to cause dehydration.
Pretty soon summer will be over and we’ll be missing the warmth. But for now, refer to these tips to avoid feeling overheated! If you’ve decided it’s time to install an air conditioner, contact Service Plus Heating, Cooling & Plumbing today at [csa_client_dni].
